The Easter that Wasn't

We had every intention of going to church on Sunday morning... the weather was supposed to be pretty bad and it was an 8am service. With that being said I took Easter pictures on Saturday afternoon. Little did I know, 5 hours later KK would complain of a sore throat for the 3rd time in 4weeks. She had strep again, so no church. But the pictures came out great.

Center Field Game On

Sometimes in life you are able to do things that you never imagined. Some of them are life changing and some of them are just for fun. Well, I had the opportunity to go to NY last weekend and assist in the opening of Yankee Stadium. Legends Hospitality Management debuted on April 3rd, 2009. Us and the Yankees now have the same Food and Beverage and Merchandise company. The Jones' and the Steinbrenners are part owners with 2 other investers in an amazing company. The hopes are for us to grow and bid out in other venues across the US. We left on Tuesday and came home on Sunday. Wednesday we helped stock and get the stadium ready. Thursday was batting practice, and before it started Jeannie and I literally ran into JETER on the stairway. WOW is all I have to say. Friday it rained so hard we thought there was NO way the game was going to start. The skies opened up at 5pm and the field was ready to go for an ontime start. Saturday was a 1pm start. Little to say there was little sleep. We all took notes so hopefully some of the obstacles that they ran into we can avoid. I ate a hot dog off the street, YUMMY, had a really good pizza at Bleaker Street where my cousin met me and the gang. It was good to see him. Saturday night we went to Times Square for about 25 minutes... Got to see the sites and go to the M&M store. Times Square is like a whole nuther world. We then went to Little Italy for dinner at an amazing Italian Restaurant. I have to say I like NY better than I thought I would.

Now it is back to work here in Texas. We, too are going to showcase a brand new stadium in June. So we are at the home stretch of a project that our department has been preparing for since 2003. Currently we are in a hurry up and wait holding pattern, waiting for the construction to be complete so we can execute what we have on paper.

Very exciting times right now for me at work, nothing life changing but I am enjoying it.

Trev and the kids are doing good. Connor turns 4 in 2 weeks from today:( Birthdays are supposed to be fun, but for me they always bring a tear or two as I watch them get a little older. He has enough personality for an entire city! He is so smart and thoughtful, it makes us so proud. KK just started soccer. Her first game is next Saturday. It is going to be so much fun to watch her. She focuses really good at practice. Her school work is improving tremendously. She is spelling soo well. She is going to be a shining star at school.

Easter is 2 days away, take a moment and reflect on the meaning. I can't even imagine having to sacrfice one of my children. I am humilbly greatful for the act of the cross. This easter we will be trying to Love Others and bring more people to him.

Better than it Looks

Poor little Connorboy. Saw his first emergency room on Saturday. He was playing mudpies at Maw Maw and Pa's house when he scraped his thumb pretty deep on the make believe, but real outside grill. We all knew that this time was most likely inevitable. I was not with them on this trip so I had to hear about it on the way to the dr. It was silent in the van, which I thought was a good sign, no screaming. Trev called me when they left the hospital to say no tetanus, no stitches, just a small bandage. WOW, so to my surprise this morning when I met them at church I saw THIS!!!

That sure is a big bandage for a small thumb cut. He actually is quite fond of this new "cast". He is almost proud of it. He tells the story proudly. The bandage actually allows him to bump into things and not jump from pain. Little hard to color, fasten his seat belt and the buckle on his pants but other than that he is doing great. He can still dance, thank goodness for that!

Better than it looks, isn't that true of most things in life? I think sometimes we see the specs of dirt all of the time in different life situations. We sometimes get into such a negative circle that all we notice is the bandage and miss the inside beauty. Sometimes we judge the book by the cover. Sometimes we stare when things are not our "normal". Kind of rambling but... the point is that sometimes we try and cover up with a BIG bandage our flaws, when in actuality they are not flaws but character qualities that God has given us. Sometimes we need to unravel the bandage and unveil the things that God has given to us to make this a better place. Our church is Loving our Neighbor this week. It is RANDOM ACTS of KINDNESS WEEK at our church, which is about 30,000-40,000 members here in Dallas and in Miami. If it is buying the person behind you in the drive-thru their drink or meal, making a meal for a neighbor, praying for a friend, opening a door for someone at the dept store, try and Love your Neighbor this week, the preacher this week John Cross reminded us that God put imperfect people on this earth so he could do a perfect thing. Jesus died on a cross for the wrong things that we do. Easter is right around the corner. I could not imagine having to sacrifice Connor for the wrong things that others have done, when he himself had done nothing wrong. The love God has for us is so amazing. Let's go out there and share him with others not by preaching to them but by LOVING THEM!
