Puppy Love Like

This girl is 33 days into kindergarten and the "boy" topic with the blushing cheeks and the giddy laugh has already come up.
How is that possible?? KK and I went to El Fenix for dinner while the boys were at a birthday party for CB's friend. We were having a very nice dinner, nachos, salsa and a Dr. Pepper all being shared by both of us. We were talking about her day, she had a field trip and rode a school bus for the first time. Very normal conversation, I thought. Then out of the blue she brings up that her a Sophie run away from Larrick on the playground.
"He says he loves us mom"
"Really"
"yes he says he is going to marry us"
"I see, well he can only marry one girl"
"I hope he chooses me"
All of this in the giggily girly voice.
"The first time he said hello to us on the playground, it was in a different voice."
You would think she was talking about McDreamy from Grey's Anatomy.
This conversation was then brought up again in front of the boys right before bed, when I asked her why she was smiling, "Because I am thinking about Larrick Lovey"
We tease that these kids now a days come out older, but really already boy crazy, we are in serious trouble.

A Whole Lotta Thinkin'

I have been thinking a lot lately and visiting different blogs. There is so much going on out there beyond my four walls and my family. People are suffering everywhere, from losing a child or a parent, to struggling with finances or marriages being strained from all of the stress.
I read the below blog and posted most of her thoughts because they are the same thoughts that I have been having and she says it so much better than me.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippeans 4:6

What I Really Hope
A mother's hopes for her children are never far from her.

I've been thinking much these last couple of weeks, as the sky seems to be doing a bit of falling. I think of how higher gas and grocery prices will affect my family, of course, but I think of other things, too. I look at the failure we're seeing, on such a grand scale, and it reminds me of something much deeper. Cheaper groceries aren't the only thing I'm wishing for, where my kids are concerned:
I hope they learn that greed is not, in fact, good. That it messes with the heads of big-time CEOs all the way down to first-time homeowners, and it clouds judgment.

I hope that we can teach them and they learn that, whether you're a government or a regular Joe, if you spend more than you make, it never ends well.
I hope they learn that a happy family is a million times more precious than a big house.
I hope they learn that when times are good, your circumstances don't have to enslave you or define you. And that when times are bad, your circumstances don't have to enslave you or define you.
I hope they remember that
America's version of "cutting back" is very different from that of the developing world.
I hope they learn that contentment is not something that accidentally happens to you, it is something you actively decide upon. And you lay hold of it, re-deciding every day that enough is actually plenty.
I hope they learn that, at the end of the day, our truest Hope will never be found in our bank accounts or our government. Insitutions sometimes fall.

He doesn't.

So as you wake up today and go to sleep tonight tell your children that you love them, tell them that you pray for them and tell them that HE is Bigger than all of this and as long as we believe and follow his path he will place his Holy Umbrella over us.
