We have had a long week behavior wise to say the least. Last week brought the influenza B to our house first to KK and less than 48 hours later to Connor. So by Wednesday when it was time to go back to school for them, it was a tough one. I checked the calendar that night and realized that they had only been to school 2 out of 13 days... with a trip to Colorado and the snow days, weekend and then flu they had missed alot of school. Breaks are always good but our behavior had fallen down a little.
Anyways... we said that if Friday we received a good report from school for both kids and we had good car rides to and fro (doesn't sound like a big deal but one of the biggest frustration behavior wise right now) then we would have a FUXA FAMILY Campout.
We got home and headed to the park as a family... I am usually absent from these outings due to Trev takes them on days when I work long hours or he takes them so I can cook dinner... so this was a special treat in and of itself. We ordered pizza and the boys went to get it while the girls set up the picnic in the living room. KK decided that she wanted to have assigned seats so she created little tickets with our names on it for place cards. KK got the plates, napkins and the extra special almost never purchased unless we are going to Maw Maw's house, coke bottles out on the blanket and when the boys got home she gave us our tickets to the table.
After dinner it was movie time... Happy Feet (okay movie, wouldn't buy it and glad it was out of the new Red Box which means it was only $1). This meant, pringles, gummy bears, and hot tamales for me. The kids did great watching the movie and around 8:30 CB started to get sleepy and before we knew it he was snuggling with me and asleep, Trev came over and dressed him and pottied him all while he had his eyes still closed... placed him back on me and that was all she wrote for him. The 3 of us finished the movie and then Trev proceeded to bring out every comforter, quilt, blanket and spare sheet for our campout. We put the kids in between us and as they say they were "parent trapped" and with only 1 "good night" out of all of us it was off to sleep. I remember from camping back in college that awake time is usually a lot earlier because of the sun, and this was no exception except for it was because of our "son" that we were up bright and early this Saturday. He had no idea where he was or how he got there but thought it was cool all the same. KK was very happy with her first camping expereince and Trev and I were pleased with the behavior that got us to the camp out.
As I was reflecting this morning of the events of this weekend, I was very glad for this special time that we had as a family, we like many other families go go go all of the time and this was a fun time had by all of us and I got another 1 1/2hr of snuggle time with Connor which I know is all too much a time that is slowly going to be less and less. And this weekend I was able to allow myself to stop and enjoy everything around me and not rush on to the next thing.
